Walking to the allotments on Wednesday the children had a big surprise. A tractor with a front loader and hydraulic crane at the back was blocking the path. Whilst admiring the magnificent JCB the driver approached and asked if the children wanted to climb aboard. What a treat. After informing them he had filled in […]
Nature is a very good place for children to learn. This week the children used all their senses during a sensory bingo game. They certainly experienced sounds, smells, textures, temperatures and colours on our Abbotsbury Explorers day to the Subtropical gardens. Other activities included a scavenger hunt, leaf rubbing, threading pasta, and using rolling pins
Meeting at the Swannery this week the children came prepared for the wet weather. Wellies were definitely needed, however we were lucky not to get any rain. Letting them climb, jump, and slide on the climbing frame, they are building muscle tone and core strength. Practicing art and
Children’s imagination took over this week as they became lost in their own lovely world of playing hairdressers, customer, receptionist and nail technician. It was certainly busy as the children answered the phone, made appointments, washed hair, and applied nail varnish after receiving a manicure and pedicure. Even the staff were treated (unfortunately no photos)!
Creating a comfortable space for children to explore books this week encouraged children to act out stories. Making Gruffalo crumble, decorating and eating gingerbread men, and book scavenger hunts offered an interactive and immersive environment. To help cultivate a love for books children were given a £1 book token and a pack from the book
