At Forest school this week the children found some sticks and collected different natural items from the floor. After attaching their items on the end of the stick with string, elastic bands or ribbon they made wands. A very long fat worm captured the children’s interest and they carefully made a home for it. Children filled buckets up with flowers, leaves and feathers this week to make cards and pictures for the special people in their lives. They also cut out pictures of flowers to stick on, and painted and printed daffodils. It was great to see everyone back this week and get to know a few new children.

To celebrate National Hedgehog Day on Tuesday 2nd February the children observed photo’s, statues and models of hedgehogs, then made their own. Using a range of different materials such as bread, pears, plasticine and playdough they made lovely unique figures to take home (including a shark and a dinosaur!). This weeks outdoor activities included a number hunt, hide the teddy, posting letters and tennis. Back inside the children painted foil fish for the frozen display and listened to a ‘bed time’ story. Using their fine physical skills the children used tongs to pick pom poms up with, and later their mathematical skills to sort
