After talking about safety and how to use tools the children had lots of fun whittling (peeling carrots with vegetable peelers), helping to develop their fine motor skills. Carrying on with their interest in dens, we made dens inside and out, under tables, in containers, and using wooden pallets. Breaking up weetabix proved very popular
We celebrated Shrove Tuesday in traditional style, holding a pancake race. Much to the amusement of people passing by the children ran, tossed and ate the pancakes. It was great to be back again with our old and new friends after the long Christmas break. The children settled back in really quickly to the Pre-school routine. Rolling out playdough, setting up the dolls house, sliding on the climbing frame and enjoying snack together were just some of the activities this week.
At the Christmas party the children were brilliant acting out the story ‘Careful Santa’ in front of their loved ones. After singing some Christmas songs we had an exciting visit from Santa.
