As it was the RSPB big garden bird watch last weekend we decided to plan lots of ‘bird’ related activities. To encourage more birds at the allotments the children made homemade bird feeders and hung them up. Children identified different seeds as they fell onto the table whilst they filled up the feeder. Making nests out of cooked spaghetti the children ensured all the eggs and chicks had ‘homes’. They also enjoyed washing the eggs and chicks after.
Helping Marj to shift the earth from a broken planter to another warmed us all up, and threading macaroni onto sticks allowed us a rest from the physical work!
Back at Pre-school the children enjoyed sorting fruit, vehicles and animals, making homes out of wooden blocks for the animals, painting, and pretending to be cats.
