The Great Race: The Story of the Chinese Zodiac. We used this book, and a Cbeebies video to retell the story and act it out using the animals (with various different endings). As it is the year of the snake children explored cooked spaghetti in green water to find snakes. Other activities to celebrate the Lunar New Year included writing Chinese numbers in red rice using chopsticks, ‘making sweet and sour’, and matching gold coins to circles on red envelopes.
Grateful for some sunshine on Thursday a trip to the park with hot chocolate and marshmallows was enjoyed by all children.
