Nature is a very good place for children to learn. This week the children used all their senses during a sensory bingo game. They certainly experienced sounds, smells, textures, temperatures and colours on our Abbotsbury Explorers day to the Subtropical gardens. Other activities included a scavenger hunt, leaf rubbing, threading pasta, and using rolling pins and cutters to make clay shapes.
Throughout the week we played different versions of ‘Kim’s game’. First we put common objects children were familiar with onto a tray, and they had to guess which object had been removed. As the game developed we guessed the missing colour, using flowers. We also sorted wooden coloured figures, made patterns in the paint on tables then printed onto paper, and made different flavoured ‘ice creams’.
