Making marks

Mark-making is not about creating the perfect picture that looks like a tree, animals or letters. Drawing ‘scribbles’ or certain shapes, is the beginning of writing and literacy! Each achievement is always celebrated at Chesil Bank Pre-school.

Activities at the allotments this week included balancing on tyres and feeding the birds.

Children enjoyed using the story sack and props this week. ‘Feeding’ the old lady animals as we read/sang the book ‘There was an old lady who swallowed a fly’ proved very popular.

Taking in turns to be the bear the children used their listening skills to identify who had stolen their honey when we played the honey pot game.

Some physical activities offered on a wet afternoon enabled the children to practice their gross motor skills.
